SSL: Is this supported?

SSL support varies with the specific OpenLink Software product and version in use. If your question is not answered below, please open a Support Case to request additional information.

  • Openlink Universal Data Access Suite, Single-Tier Edition

Release 1.x and later do not support SSL (as of Release 6.0), but this is scheduled to be implemented in future releases for those databases which support SSL connections in their native communications.

  • Openlink Universal Data Access Suite, Multi-Tier Edition

Release 5.2 and later support full duplex SSL for all communications between the OpenLink Generic Client (all mechanisms) and the OpenLink Request Broker and Database Agent(s). Communications between Database Agent and the DBMS instance (particularly relevant to three- and more-tier installations, where the Database Agent is installed on a "gateway" host, and targets a "remote" DBMS instance) do not support SSL (as of Release 6.0), but as with Single-Tier, this is scheduled to be implemented in future releases for those databases which support SSL connections in their native communications.

Release 1.x and later support a proprietary 32-bit encryption algorithm, configured at the simplex level, and implementable as full duplex, for all communications between the OpenLink Generic Client (all mechanisms) and the OpenLink Request Broker and Database Agent(s). Again, this encryption is not applicable to communications between Database Agents and DBMS instances.

  • OpenLink Virtuoso

Release 2.5 and later support full duplex SSL for all communications with the Virtuoso Server, wherever the data access mechanism and/or communications protocol supports such (e.g., ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB, ADO.NET, https, etc.).
